Client Installation Problem

I am having a problem installing ADT2 on a client machine over the
network. It copies all of the files, then moves on to the dll's. At this
point setup gives me a message that it cannot register the self
registering files. Then setup quits.

The installation program resides on the server. I go through network
neighborhood on the client machine I want to put ADT2 on, to the
installation directory on the server, and run setup. The ADT2 files are
then installed from the server to the client machine. ADT2 then resides
on the client machine and is controlled by the license manager on the
server. (We have eight licenses, only eight client machines can run ADT2
at any one time)

The message I receive in the setup dialog box which appears is:

setup has finished copying files...
installaing shared DLLs...
(a few seconds pass then)

This is the 13th time I have done
the cient installation over the network and this is the first time this
has happened. We just installed a new harddrive on this machine and
installed windows 95 b. They say in the installation guide that there is
an inompatability with the original version of Windows 95.

thanks,
jim

Hi Jim,

What dll is not registering? Also if this is a Client Install go to the
image directory just under SETUP.EXE. Run CLIENT.EXE to get a verbose
install. This should let the deployment stop at any prompts or errors. If
it is just a self registering file, you can run ...

regserver32 filename.dll

This will register the dll and may be enough to get you going.

Hope this helps.
