I'm trying to install Civil3D 2012 (32 bit) alongside exisitng Civil3D 2012 and Civil 3D 2007 Land Desktop Companion. The installation of C3D 2012 fails almost immediately following the step where I select an installation folder. A log file is not created, so I cannot refer to that for clues. Any idea what's amiss? BTW, I tried to create an support case online, but cannot - what is supposed to be in the "supported asset" and "supported product" fields? The popup search windows never yield a result, no matter what I input in them. We do have a valid support agreement in place. Very frustrating!
thanks,
Tom
you can't install Civil 3d 2012 when you already have Civil 3d 2012 already there
unless i am misreading what you typed

No error message, and nothing in the event logs, either... at least not that I can find. I'm going to rebuild my deployment image and see if that helps.
thanks,
Tom
I think I've discovered what's happening. The installation is failing to install the MSVisual C++ 2008 Sp1 Redistribultable (x86) component. The installation aborts at this point with a "Result = 1603."
I've tried a couple of different installation attempts, one usiing a domain administrator account, the other using a domain administrator account with the anti-virus agent completely stopped. Same result.
any ideas?
thanks,
Tom
i would try installing it directly from microsoft
