Civil 3D installation error on Windows 7 x64

Are there any known conflicts with other software  and the Civil 2012 Installation?  We have been installing 2010 on windows 7 x64  computers recently and most have been successful, but we have 3 computers all (win 7 x64 ) that it will not install on. These 3 are related in that they are the only computers used for 3D laser Scanner data. They have the leica Cyclone Software, Faro Scene I think it is and Microstation 8i.  They also have Civil 2010 which ran fine .

I have done clean iunnstalls of the unsuccessful 2012 install remnants and removed Civil 2010. The 2012 install starts but for some reason it only shows the Sanitary and Sewer Addon . If I click ok it fails with a message that Civil or Map2012 has to be installed for Sanitary to run. It is like  it is skipping the Civil part of the install altogether . This same installer has worked on  10 other computers  that only had civil 2010 on them not the above software.  So I was wondering if you knew of any incompatibilities with the laser scanning software and civil 2012.

We are aware of the problem with  the Visual C++ 2010 runtime versions  and have been unstalling the 2010 and even the 2008 runtimes but nothing has worked so far.

Any info or advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

Attach your installation log file as it may yield more information to the failure.

Thanks for the reply. I had trouble  finding the logs, but I went into the registry and removed every  reference to Civil 3D 2012  and it is installing now. Strangely there were references to the (x86) program files. I think  maybe there was a failed attempt to install  the x86 version by someone  else? Anyways even though I followed the clean uninstall instructions I still had to go back into the registry and remove the references to civil 2012 - just which was the critical one I don't know as there was still a lot of them in there scattered  about.

I still have 2 more machines to try this on. If it fails again I will try to find that log file I thought it was under %TEMP%

thanks again

Ok this is strange. The install ran. It is a network license. The dialog box had the serial number the product key, the license manager server  all filled in like it is supposed to . Install ran through to the end  without errors but now when I click on the civil 2012 icons , instead of opening the program it runs another install only this one is slightly different! Like a standalone . The serial number and product keys are blank and there is no field  with the license manager  server name.  It will accept the serial number but not the product key.  Why now would what appears to be a stand alone install want to run after it installed as a network license ?

Interesting.  What product key are you using?

Yes, your installation log is very odd indeed.  Try the installation once more and give an updated log.  Make sure after the uninstall, you delete the 2012 root folder (if it is still there) so it has a fresh place to install, just in case...
