civ3D deployment requires win xp sp2

First - the server - Windows Server 2000 SP4, 2.4 Ghz Zeon w/ 2GB ram

We are attempting to do a network deployment of Civil 3D 2009. Running the setup file goes thru the initialization process. Once complete it brings up the "Install" screen with the normal options to read, install, deploy, tools. When deploy is selected, it gives an error that states "CREATING A DEPLOYMENT REQUIRES WINDOWS XP SERVICE PACK 2 OR BETTER". After that, it goes no further.

Any ideas????

You can create the deployment from a client and push it up to a shared
server folder. IOW start the deployment from a client, but for the
deployment location, use "N:\path" or "\\servername\path".
Once there it will deploy fine. BTDT.

Thanks for the idea!! Tried that approach. Got all the way to reviewing the installation settings.

The only real question I have was the location of the installation files. It would not allow anywhere except the hard drive of the client machine. Is this acceptable, or will other installs require any of these files??

Not sure exactly which screen you're looking at. It should create the entire
deployment on the server's local drive and the clients will get all
necessary files deployed to their local drives.

This is where I am talking about. It is part of the configuration settings. Once past this screen, it begins asking for location of /support files, /font files/ plotter settings, etc. If you browse out to the network location, it tells you it is invalid. In order to continue you have to accept the client hard drive

Right, yes, that's OK. That's where they will be installed *from* the
deployment image, *to* the clients, when you do the client installs later.

It doesn't mean that's where the deployment image is being created, on the
client you're sitting at.

Hope this makes sense!
