We have a laptop that had an autocad license checked out on the hard drive was reformatted without the license having been checked back in. Now we are told that the license can not be used for 6 month (the maximum checkout period). Can this be true? What if we had a virus attach all of our computers and wipe out the hard drives?
Some say never check out a license, but sometimes it is necessary; the internet is not everywhere.
If you name the computer the same and have the same user login with that Autodesk software, you can reborrow the license and then return it. That will free it up.
this is what an options file controls: http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/dl/item?siteID=123112&id=7459915&linkID=9240617
