Hi I just installed Maya2011 Service Pack 1 on my OSX. And whenever I go to my channel box, instead of seeing english "Translate X, Translate Y..etc
I get weird fonts like &^%$#. Everything else is readable and is english. Only the channel box is %$#@.
Shouldn't this problem be resolved already? I was looking at the Bug Number
256814: OSX: Channel box labels are not displayed correctly.
Is there something else I can do to fix this?
Thank you!
Maya should be using Lucida Grande as it's standard font type on Mac OS X. If you are seeing a different font you may have a faulty system font cache.
(Solution)
The simplest way of fixing this issue without installing 3rd party applications or dealing with permissions is to simply reboot your machine into safe mode.
To perform a Safe Boot you would reboot the machine and as the Mac starts up hold down the Shift key.
When booting into safe mode the system does a few checks. The main check you are looking for is the part where it trashes all font caches normally stored in /Library/Caches/com.apple.ATS/(uid)/ , where (uid) is a user ID number such as 501.
After your system fully boots into safe mode you can simply reboot the machine into your regular desktop.
More details about Mac OS X safe boot can be found on Apple's site (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1564?viewlocale=en_US)
