Can't install AutoCad 2011 on Windows 7 x64

When I run setup I get the following error.  I'm using the 64bit Install Disk on Windows 7 Pro 64bit.  I've installed all Windows updates and aside from a few applications, it's untouched.

Thanks,
Matt

That doesn't fix anything, did you look at my screenshot?  I can't get to step one of installation!

Attached is another screenshot of a related Event Viewer entry.

Since I offered no "fix" just a better location to seekl Help for installation issues I am not sure why you think another screenshot would help.

To the original poster, Matt,

From your first screen capture, it shows that setup is being run from the DVD drive and also that your antivirus is running (as indicated by the blue and yellow shield next to the AutoCAD 'A' logo in the bottom left).

Perhaps two of the most common conditions that affect a successful installation are uncorrected read errors when running setup from a DVD and any form of antivirus running that is scanning the copied files and protecting the registry.

Try copying the contents of the 64-bit installation DVD to a folder on the hard drive. That will force the operating system to verify and correct any errors found during the copy operation. That doesn't occur when setup is started from the DVD. Since the DVD drive is running much slower than the hard drive, very often, it will drop bits of data to keep up.

You can get an idea of how much data is being dropped when you watch the time remaining to finish when you copy the DVD contents to the hard drive. The time remaining estimate should go down smoothly, but you will likely see the estimate jump back up several minutes as errors are caught and that portion of the DVD is forced to copy again. The more corrections, the greater likelihood of dropped data when setup is run from the DVD.

Once the DVD contents are on the faster hard drive, temporarily turn off your antivirus, if it will let you, and then run setup from the hard drive. Also, for Windows 7, turn off User Access Control.

If your antivirus won't allow you to turn it off, you can install in MSconfig's Diagnostics start up mode, with the Windows Installer Service running. That will run only bare minimum Windows services. Your antivirus will not be running.

For more details on how to do that, see our Technical Solution TS75218 located here: Clean installation on Windows® XP or Vista (and Windows 7).

Also, feel free to contact your Autodesk reseller for help with issues like this for your Autodesk Design Academy products. I noticed your computer name in the second screen capture shows that the machine is at Goshen High School and found your profile in our system.
