Can't install 3ds max 2014 or 2013 w/ error message

So, I've been fighting with this installation for days now.  I am trying to install 3ds max as a trial to ensure that it runs, and I can not get it installed.

There are twelve steps in the installation (descending from 12 when you begin).  It gets down to step 7 (when it will begin installing the actual program), and then begins to ascend again to 12, rolling back everything that had succeeded.

In the installation log, here is the message I received:

Between my attempts I have removed Autodesk keys from the register, uninstalled anything by autodesk, cleared me %temp% folder, cleared program data\autodesk and cleared user\nick\appdata\local\autodesk and \roaming\autodesk

So There should be no remaining files, I cannot figure this out and I am sitting here ripping my hair out, I hope someone can help me.

It's hard to say from that log why the program is failing.  There should be a larger installation log in your %TEMP% folder that may shed some additional information.

Yes, and it is huge so I'm not sure what would be useful from that.

This seems worrysome:

SOFTWARE RESTRICTION POLICY: C:\Autodesk\WI\Autodesk 3ds Max 2014\x64\max\3dsMax2014.msi is not digitally signed

APPCOMPAT: looking for appcompat database entry with ProductCode '{52B37EC7-D836-0409-0064-3C24BCED2010}'.
APPCOMPAT: no matching ProductCode found in database.

SOFTWARE RESTRICTION POLICY: C:\Users\NickG\AppData\Local\Temp\_AI3B15.tmp\x64\max\3dsMax2014-standalone.mst is not digitally signed
SOFTWARE RESTRICTION POLICY: C:\Users\NickG\AppData\Local\Temp\_AI3B15.tmp\x64\max\3dsMax2014-standalone.mst is permitted to run at the 'unrestricted' authorization level

What else should I be looking for?  This is seriously driving me nuts.

It's amazing how about a month after I post this, someone is trying to help.  What ended up fixing this problem was a fresh installation of Windows 7.  Though this is extreme, nobody from Autodesk was much help, I had called and spoken to live chat and nobody had any idea what was going on.

Sounds like you needed Microsoft Windows support, not Autodesk support.  Smiley Very Happy

Regardless of who could support this issue, Autodesk should have been able to identify the problem and inform me that I needed to speak with Microsoft.  That's called good tech support.  I'm a tech support guy, and I always provide alternate assistance when necessary.  If it's something I cannot fix, I advise them of who can fix it.  C'mon now..

Did you contact Autodesk support thru your Subscription support or your Value-Added Reseller?   Or did you just post a question on this peer-to-peer forum?
