I have a multseat standalone license for AutoCAD Mechanical... however I need to install plain AutoCAD. Will a plain AutoCAD install and activate properly with an AutoCAD Mechanical serial number? Also is there a way to downgrade licensing from Mechanical to plain AutoCAD so I don't have to pay the higher subscription fee for Mechanical... we don't need any Mechanical features.

Darren is right. In the mean-time, you can still launch vanilla AutoCAD icon. It is in the Mechanical program group.
Thanks for the info. One more question. It is my understanding that with "Cascading Licensing", if I have a network license of AutoCAD Mechanical and I launch Plain AutoCAD from a workstation it will first look for an AutoCAD license on the server, if none are available, it will then pull the license needed from the AutoCAD Mechanical license. Is this correct?
This is generally correct depending on the release and the suite.
