C3D2010 and 2011 Msg: "This installation forbidden by system policy"

Recently, a user contacted me with the information that he received the message, "This is installation forbidden by system policy..." with a #267 error code when trying to install Civil 3D 2010 after Civil 3D 2011.

There is a good Technical Solution discussing this issue at:

So this means that as long as you install Civil 3D 2010 then Civil 3D 2011 that you can have both applications on the same computer?

Gracias for the quick response. Our IT Dept. will be performing an install of Civil 3D 2011 along side my existing Civil 3D 2010 installation I'll post the results for others to review.

How do I reinstall Civil3D 2010 on a machine that had 2011 installed on it? I tried uninstalling C3D 2011, but I still get the same error "This installation forbidden by system policy....."

If the issue occurs after uninstalling the 2011 product, then perhaps there is some information from the installer that was left behind either in the registry or on the drive. Removing all traces of the 2011 product will help resolve the issue.
