C-Dilla License error AutoCAD 2002

Hello,

I have been running AutoCAD 2002 with Windows XP Pro since the latter half of 2001 without problems. However, about a month ago I started to get the C-Dilla license manager wanting to unload or exit. Numerous dialog boxes would appear and upon exiting all I would get a Fatal Error closing AutoCAD.

I was running RTS 3.24 and have now upgraded to RTS 3.27 as per the instructions, ie log in as administrator. However, upon starting AutoCAD I do not get a request to re-authorise, (as per the instructions). If I check Help/About it says that my license is permanent. Everything works OK for a couple of days and then the same problem appears.

Voice tech support from my dealer suggested that I re-install everything including AutoCAD, but the problem remains. I was then told to clear the Windows registry of any keys referring to Autodesk or Autocad. Unless someone is more specific in which keys to delete I am reluctant to do this procedure.

Does any one know of a solution? Note when I get a fatal error I re-start my system and AutoCAD works fine for a few more hours/sessions.

Your help would be most appreciated. Thank you.

Can you please give the exact text of the error message(s) received, and
what action you take before you get them (i.e. is it just on launch, or
mid-session)?

Hello Cy,

Sometimes I get a C-Dilla dialog box with the option to unload or exit on AutoCAD startup. AutoCAD has started in the background and I can either leave the C-Dilla box by switching over to AutoCAD or click exit. In either case I am able to continue with my AutoCAD session. Other times I don't get the C-Dilla box on startup and since my earlier post I have not been able to get the C-Dilla box to appear.

However, my fatal crashes start mid session generally two to three times a day. A restart of the operating system fixes the problem until the next 'random' time. I suspect that the problem is related to an AutoCAD session being left unattended since I am almost certain to see about a dozen C-Dilla messages although not always when I return. Upon exiting from each dialog I get a message stating that my license is invalid followed by a message stating Fatal Error. I will record the exact wording next time it happens. I do recall an error code something like 7.1.29. I will confim it when it next appears.

Do you know how to force a re-authorize of AutoCAD. Note 6 of the RTS 3.27 License Update states to re-authorize AutoCAD but I don't get at any stage a prompt asking me to do this. I think that if I can force a re-authoriszation my problems will go away.

Zak,

In the first instance can you make sure you have
the AutoCAD 2002 Service Pack 1 applied. This incorporates some fixes for
intermittent licensing errors. The contents of your AutoCAD 2002 AdLM.err file
will help us to understand better what errors you have been
experiencing.

Hello Simon,

I have had AutoCAD 2002 Service Pack 1 installed since it first came out. However, during the recent license problems I have re-installed AutoCAD with and without the service pack and still had problems. My local Autodesk dealer suggested the re-install of AutoCAD and also suggested that I only install the RTS license upgrade (for Win XP support) and not the service pack for AutoCAD. I had no license error problems on Friday or this morning. However, I installed the service pack as you suggested and still no license problems, but this time I lost BATTMAN. This is the same thing that occured when I first installed the service pack many months ago. Anyway I have fixed the BATTMAN problem by loading BATTMAN.ARX.

Another option I have is to do a system restore to my last working backup of a couple of months ago before my problems started. My local dealer suggested that perhaps one of the Windows XP security updates has caused the problem.

Thanks for your help and I'll let you know if I have any more problems. I would still like to know how to re-authorize AutoCAD as per the instructions for the RTS 3.27 update.

Regards,
Zak Novak

Zak,

With regards to reauthorisation, if your
installation required it you would see a Authorise, Buy, Run dialog on
product launch. If you are not seeing this there is no need to reauthorise. The
readme for the update probably should emphasis that.

Thanks,
