Autodesk Maya will not install

Hi. I'm trying to install the student version of Autodesk Maya for my son but it will not install. The files download but when I try to install the program I get the following message: "Some files could not be created. Please close all applications, reboot Windows and restart this application" followed by a list of files "Cannot create AutodeskInstallNow.exe" and others. Naturally rebooting Windows etc does not help. We previously had Autodesk Maya successfully installed but it was deleted when we partially reformatted Windows 8 due to problems with Windows. Any thoughts on how we can install Autodesk Maya?

Clear your %TEMP% folder then make sure to install with local admin rights, UAC off, and antivirus temporarily disabled.  If it still fails, post you installation log file.
