Reader,
This is my problem. I am currently registered as a student, looking to use Maya for creating some character models. I am having this problem when installing, though:
I run the initial .exe, and unpack it to C:\Autodesk, and it unpacks the setup into there. I then run the setup, and hit install, accept the agreement, put in my activation code, and then hit install, changing nothing, and keeping all the checked installations checked. It either does one of the two: It shows the bar moving for a split second, then errors with

OR It will continue to go through the moving bar, then it will stop at what seems to be 99%, and just do nothing after that. It doesn't freeze nor crash, but just stops, and just sits there aimlessly. After that I have to terminate the process.
I know it has to do with the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 installations, but I don't know how to fix this issue.
I am currently running from a laptop, which to the best of my knowledge contains an i3 processer, (unkown graphics, if you know how to find out, do tell.), 3.80gb RAM, 500gb HDD (270gb free). If you need more information to come to a conculusion, do tell. I would like to have this fixed so I can download this. It has also happened with other programs that try to do anything with MVC++, as in, it won't download and it just crashes.
Thanks for you time,
