Autodesk Crashes on Licence Check

Last week AutoCAD 2014 LT stopped starting up, hard crashes. I did an uninstall and tried to reinstall and got this error:

"Autodesk component has stopped working"

To fix this I have tried:

The suggestions posted here: http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/installation-licensing/autodesk-component-has-stopped-working/td-p/384...

Including a complete uninstall/reinstall.

I have tried running in compatibility mode

I have tried creating a new windows account and running from there.

It is still giving me the same error.

OS: Windows 8.1 64 Bit

EDIT: You can also add this: http://knowledge.autodesk.com/search-result/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Standalone-Licensing-Wiza... to the list of things I have done that haven't worked.

Add: Uninstall and delete the
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Autodesk Shared\Adlm\R7 (file:///C:/Program%20Files/Common%20Files/Autodesk%20Shared/Adlm/R7) folder.

Same issue still persists.

I should have noted that the error occurs when I try to submit the activation code given to me by support.

Hi Will and welcome to the Autodesk Community!

I tried using your email address to look up your case number but was unable to locate anything recent. To submit a licensing case to reach the Activation and Registration department, please follow these steps:

1.    Visit http://knowledge.autodesk.com/contactus
2.    Select “Activation & Registration” or “License Management”
3.    Select appropriate subtopics from the pull-down menus
4.    Select “I Still Need Help”  if you need personal assistance

There you can chat with a live agent or submit an email if all agents are busy. Thank you!

I've already talked with an agent and gotten an activation code. The email associated with my AutoDesk account is no longer valid, and I can't change it (because the only way to reset the password is to send an email to the invalid account...DOH).

The agent I talked to said to come here...

Email(s):

will@winengineer.com (invalid, and the one the Autodesk account is tied to)

will.rhoads@winengineer.com (valid)

This type of crash I’ve seen connected to a combination of windows updates and I would uninstall them first. After activation, they can reinstall with regular windows updates.

  1. Log in to Windows and access to the Control Panel.
  2. Access the Programs and Features option
  3. On the left, click "View installed updates"
  4. Uninstall these
  1. Reboot the system (must do this) and test. Your likely cause.

Restarted, tried to activate.

Same error.
