autodesk component issue for 3DS MAX 2014

Hello,

I am having issues after installnig 3DS MAX 2014. Once I start MAX i  get an Autodesk component error and

the program freezes. Anyone resolved this part? I couldn't even get to the activation menu. I tried uninstalling and installing the program for so many times now , downloading and installing both service packs but still the same problem. I just can't get past the licensing stage. I tried saving the adskflex_*_tsf.data file to a .bak file as mentioned in the

AutoCAD issue thread but still nothing. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

My Windows works fine. Its just the launch of 3DS Max that freezes with the Autodesk component message. My issue is the same with this: http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/Installation-Licensing/Autodesk-component-has-stopped-working/td-p/384... except its for 3DS Max 2014.

If you are running on a laptop, it could be an Optimus setting for your video card.  Subsequently, it can still be one of the two activation crashes plaguing the 2014 release.

vcwon1,

Hello. Do you have IE 10 installed? It is possible that it is causing grief here. I would roll back to 9 and see if it changes the behavior.

  1. In the Windows Control Panel, go to Programs and Features
  2. Click Turn Windows features on or off
  3. Uncheck the Internet Explorer 10 box and click "OK". Let the process run
  4. After the system finishes processing, reboot the machine
  5. In the Windows Control Panel, go to Programs and Features
  6. Click "View Installed Updates"
  7. Locate the update for Internet Explorer 10 and select it and click "Uninstall" at the top of the screen.
  8. Let the process complete and reboot.

You can also look in the Windows Event logs to see if there is a particular module failing.

Thank you for taking part in our community!

This solved the problem.

Starting the program with integrated graphics worked! Hopefully this would be highlighted in the next release especially with laptop video devices. Thanks again to everyone with their help!
