Autodesk Civil 3D 2006 serial number not valid

Hello,

I am not sure how the serial number works, but i found a 2006 Civil 3D in my office and installed it. But upon trying to activate it, i recieved an error "Serial number/Subscription group ID not valid (2) "

Since this is the serial number written behind my CD-case, i am confused. Does this mean i will not be allowed to use the product or can i get another serial number?
