AutoCAD LT 2002 reintall problems!

I reimaged my laptop as I had various issues. I then reinstalled AutoCAD LT 2002 and the instalation seemed to complete fine.
I start the application and asks for my activation code, I enter this and it gives me the confirmation page, which i save as suggested.
The application then closes and I am stuck in a loop. It also closes if I chose the use appication option rather then enter codes.
I called Autodesk who simply told me the product is no longer supported.
I am running windows XP.

Any ideas?

basically imaging software doesnt help in reactivating the license.
