Hi Autodesk community,
I have a big problem with Autocad 2012 LT.
When I execute the setup.exe from the DVD or from the local disk folder which contain the whole DVD, it appears in the task manager, stays about 5 sec and leave without any message.
But in the event viewer (in french) :
Nom du journal :Application Source : Application Error Date : 08.08.2011 12:49:51 ID de l’événement :1000 Catégorie de la tâche :(100) Niveau : Erreur Mots clés : Classique Utilisateur : N/A Ordinateur : xxx Description : Nom de l’application défaillante setup.exe_unknown, version : 5.0.78.100, horodatage : 0x4d688223 Nom du module défaillant : KERNELBASE.dll, version : 6.1.7601.17514, horodatage : 0x4ce7b8f0 Code d’exception : 0xc000008f Décalage d’erreur : 0x0000b760 ID du processus défaillant : 0x122c Heure de début de l’application défaillante : 0x01cc55b8e4d8104a Chemin d’accès de l’application défaillante : C:\Users\xxx\Desktop\acadlt2012\setup.exe Chemin d’accès du module défaillant: C:\Windows\system32\KERNELBASE.dll ID de rapport : 245928b8-c1ac-11e0-abdb-18a905f746f6
I tried to run the setup with local administrator/domain admin, same problem.
I tried on 3 different computers : HP8200/8000 and 7900, which are running windows 7 32 bits.
I tried to install every 3rd party from the DVD, directx, dotnet 4, msxml6.
None of these computer have ever had an autocad software installed.
Please help me, I'm becoming mad.

Hi,
Have other problem with other software ?
IE9 or Office ?
Other problem in the event viewer ?
You can post in french. No problem for me.
Directx crash with the same error but install works (directx is installed) :

We have IE9 and office 2003 installed without any problem.
If I run directly the "\acadlt2012\x86\fr-FR\acadlt\AcadltLP.msi" I get the 1606 error.
Thanks for the reply.
Hi,
Are login as local administrator or did you run as local administrator ?
Don't copy the DVD on the desktop.
Create a folder under C drive like ACD2012 and copy the content in it.
See also these two articles from the knowledgebase :

1606 error aren't easy to resolve. They cover a large number of problem.
Hi,
I tried logged as administrator and run as administrator (local and domain), no change.
I copied the DVD in c:\acadlt2012, same problem.
I have even downloaded the trial version from the autodesk website, same problem.
I'm going to read your links.
Thanks for your reply.
I've read and checked everything given by these two articles but didn't helped.
That's crazy, setup doesn't even say anything no message, no nothing.
I've tried on a dedicated multimedia workstation (hp8100 tower with i7, 4Gb, win7 x32) and the setup launch normally.
I don't know what is missing in our new computers but it's driving me insane.
It's not correct to run directly the "\acadlt2012\x86\fr-FR\acadlt\AcadltLP.msi".
How about you try to install all the 3rd party components firstly and then restart machine and try the setup.exe again?
You can find all the 3rd party components from the DVD's 3rdparty folder.
Only the new machines have IE9? How about the machine which can install successfully? IE8 or same IE9?
Regards,
Helen
Have you try a windowsupdate ?
Just to be sure to have the last update from Microsoft.
I've installed every 3rd party components. Apparently I have a problem with DirectX, it crashes at the end with the same error than autocad. That's strange because the installation success anyway...
The only computer where I can run the installer have IE 9 too.
2 posts for your to have a check about Direct X install which might related to your problem.

I tried the directx solutions, did not help 😞
I'm trying to modify the setup.ini to run the setup.exe without system check but doesn't seems to help...
Have you patched Windows 7 SP1 and try the installation again?
Could you please attach the installation log files under %temp% folder to us to have a review?

Helen
Ok guys, I found the problem/solution!
The problem come from a little software, D&D interceptor, which is used to log any unwanted move/delete of folders in our servers.
Actually this soft ask for a user confirmation when a folder is deleted/moved.
Software uninstalled, Autocad installed then D&D reinstalled, works perfectly.
Thanks to all people who helped me.
Have a nice day.
It's glad to hear that you have found the problem and the solution. And it's a good learn for me. Thank you for the sharing.

Helen
