ApplicationOptions.xml

Hi,

We're running AutoDesk Inventor Professional 2012 on Windows 7 Enterprise 64B.

ApplicatioOptions.xml does not work if:

  1. Created with the deployment (Configure Option Settings > Application settings > I Would like to import custom settings >  path to ApplicationOptions.xml.)
  2. Added to properties of the Autodesk Inventor Desktop Shortcut ("C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Inventor 2012\Bin\Inventor.exe" /importoptions=”C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Inventor 2012\Preferences\ApplicationOptions.xml")

The only way to start with the predefined settings is bij import them (Tools > Appliocation Options > Import)

So the question is: Why does 1 and 2 not work for us?

Best regards,

Hello Adenm.

We know that not all options are imported when using Process 1 and 2. Our developers are working on it to solve this issue.

In the meantime, two options :

  1. Import manually the file from the application options
  2. You can export the registry HKCU/Software/Autodesk/Inventor/RegistryVersionxx/System/Preferences from a user with the good settings and import it to the other users.

Hi Pierrre,

One more question;

This  is a HKCU setting. Do you have an option to set it to all Users or Local machine?

Regards,

Marco

Hi Adenm

Unfortunately the settings need to be set in HKCU.

If you need to deploy this for multiple users on one machine, you can use these Microsoft solutions :

  1. Or you can manually copy the HKCU to HKUser/"S with long code behind" which is corresponding to an HKCU for definer User.

Warning!

The following steps involve change in system registry. Problems caused by improperly editing the Windows registry could render your computer operating system unusable. Microsoft provides a wealth of critical information that you need to know about the registry in the Microsoft Knowledge Base at http://support.microsoft.com/support.

Use the Microsoft® Registry Editor only at your own risk and only after backing up the registry as well as the system.dat and user.dat files as outlined for your operating system in the Microsoft Knowledge Base and in the related solution, TS66513.
