adskflex with solaris floating server?

Hello,

since many years I use Solaris Sparc as floatinglicense-server for Maya.
It looks as I have to use NLM 11.6.1 for Maya 10. Is there a NLM 11.6.1
for Solaris-Sparc?

I tried NLM 11.5 with a Maya 2010 licensefile. NLM 11.5 is available for
Solaris, but there is no adskflex deamon, only the old sgiawd. It does not
work. Is there a adskflexdeamon for Solaris Sparc?

I have only sparc servers. Must I realy buy a new X86 Server only for
serving my 12 Mayalicenses?

With friendly greetings from Germany
Ralf

Unfortunately, the adskflex.exe daemon does not come in a compatible version for Solaris. You do not need to purchase a separate x86 server, as the NLM will run on any available Windows platform, or you can simply use a Virtual Machine.
Good Luck!

Hello,

thank you very much for your reply! Only some things are not clear for me.

Every time I hear something about adskflex the people say adskflex.exe.
I want to serve Maya2010 for Windows-clients, but there is a license
server 11.6.1 for Windows, MAC and Linux to. Is it possible to serve
the Windows-clients with a Linux-license-server? It is sufficient for me
to serve Maya 2010, I do not need the new features of adskflex.

Which vendordeamon is used by Linux? Is it adskflex (not.exe) for Linux
or the old sgiawd? If it is sgiawd, I would give my Sparc-server a last
chance with the Solaris sgiawd and a licensefile for Linux.
The problem is, the most Virtual Machines require a X86-Plattform, but
my Solaris-servers are all sparc based, so most of the Virtual Machines
won't run on this sparc-servers.

I would be very, very sad, if I have to install a Windows-server 😞

Have a nice weekend!

Best Regards
Ralf

We say adskflex.exe because that is how it comes. It is provided only for Windows systems by Autodesk at this time, even though the actual NLM from Acresso will run on nearly any Server OS.

Hi,

See this document :

Maya 2010 uses adskflex.
Maya 2009 and previous version use sgiawd.
In my opinion you can setup a linux server to distribute licence to Windows
client.

Hi,

you are right! Because I cold not believe the answer above, I installed Linux and
NLM 11.6.1 for Linux. After I have installed the rpm, I found an adskflex-deamon
for Linux on the disk. So I feed the linux-box with the windows-licensefile and
everything works. Linux could serve my windows-licenses to the windows-clients.

I'm happy, that it is not necessary to install a windows-box.

I would be very happy if Autodesk compiles also an Solaris-Sparc adskflex.

With friendly Greetings from Germany
Ralf
