3ds Max Failed to Install

I don't know what else to do. I don't understand very much about computers so I might need some help explaining what's going on.

I tried installing Max 12, both 64 and 32 bit versions and it failed. Then I tried installing Max 11, both bit versions and nothing.

What's going on? I have Windows 7 in this computer and I already had Max 12 installed before I formatted the machine. It's the same computer but now I can't install any Max version.

Please help me. I'm an art student and every week I have an assignment to do on Max.

Please, can someone help me? Doesn't Autodesk have a costumer service of some sort? A number or an e-mail I can contact a specialized employee to help me?

Message 3 of 32

You need to post your error and your installation log file so we can determine the failure.  Usually it is due to a prerequisite installer issue like Visual C++.

Thanks. I deleted all Max related files from my computer, followed the video of how to prep the computer for installation, installed .NET 4, rebooted the system, downloaded Max 2012 again and reinstalled. Here is the log file of the failed installation.

Thank you in advance.

Can anyone help me? I don't know what else to do. I can't really use a different software for what I have to do.

Message 6 of 32

Hello? Anyone?

Message 7 of 32

Can someone please help me? I'm still having trouble installing 3ds Max. I already posted the installation log files here.

Message 8 of 32

There should be a larger install log file in your %TEMP% folder with additional information on the failure.  Zip and attach it here.

Thank you for answering me, Travis. I uploaded everything related to Autodesk and 3ds Max in the %TEMP% folder. If you could be more specific for what I'm looking for I might be able to find more files.

Thank you again for taking the time to help me.

Message 10 of 32

Unfortunately, I am just not finding what is causing your failure.  If you are installing with a service pack, do not do this.  Install fresh without one.

I don't even know what a "service pack" is. I bought this computer last year and installed 3ds Max 2012 perfectly and used it for a few months. A couple of months ago I had to format this computer and after that I've been having trouble installing 3ds Max again.

Message 12 of 32

Sometimes when you install the product it asks if you also want to install the following updates.  Always say no to this.

Are you installing from media or download?

I will reinstall it an pay attention to that.

I'm installing via download.

Message 14 of 32

Okay, so I was installing again and I unchecked the Service Pack option and it still didn't install.

Do you think it has anything to do with the serial key?

It's the same serial key I used the first time I installed 3ds Max on this computer.

But it's kind of a new computer now because I formatted it, right?

Message 16 of 32

Nah, serial doesn't matter.  The Max itself isn't installing on a generic 1603.  But there should be another installation log file in your %TEMP% that will just be for MAX and not the whole setup suite.  Might help determine the reason.

Travis, I went back into the %TEMP% file and zipped everything that had "max" in the name.

I hope that helps. 😞

Message 18 of 32

Travis, I understand that maybe you can't help me. Is there any other way for me to get help? Is there a costumer service from Autodesk? Any phone I can call?

Message 19 of 32

Phone support is typically offered thru your Value Added Reseller or your Subscription Gold account.

Error in the log is about MRsetservice.

if you are not using Mental ray service you can try the tweak in this post
