I am trying to install the students version of 3ds max 2014, but I get the same error every time.

The support just emailed me a link to the forum post regarding errors with the prerequisite, however after I looked at my error log I don't think that there's the problem.

I have also tried installing it directly from the .msi files, which was also suggested in one thread, but I couldn't figure out how to disable the metal ray thing.

Yes, however I've tried the german version a well and i got the same error.
