Since I don't see my specific issue addressed anywhere, I'll need to make a new post about it. That, or I'm just consistently terrible at forums. I am attempting to install 3ds Max 2012 on my Windows 8 laptop, but the installation is failing every single time. I have tried disabling UAC, but had the same result.
One thing that must be made clear to aid in assisting me is that it must be 3ds Max 2012, no other version will do. So please try to refrain from suggesting 2013 or 2014.
Installation Log info:
These lines show up about 4 times during the log, and I do not know what to make of it. It seems like it, for some reason, cannot install the Autodesk Material Library 2012. Why is that?

Since we can't recommend 2013 (Win7 only) or 2014 (Win8 and 2015 is the same), then all we can do is suggest you rollback to Win7.
Win8 is not a supported system for 2012;
Well, that kind of sucks. I can't revert to Windows 7 on this, so my only option would be to go for a version of Linux on this WIndows 8, then get a WINE for Windows 7 on Linux. That's absolurely redundant, so a friend is sending their old computer that I can use for 3ds Max. It's all figured out, thank you.
Hey I'm having the exact same issue as this guy except I'm running Windows 7! I can't use any of the other versions. It must be 2012. The screen shot he sent of "some items failed to install" is the exact result I'm getting So any help would be appreciatede. Please respond.
