3DS Max 2011 1721 Install Error

Hello,

I have a Gateway GT5426E computer with the 32 bit windows vista home premium os.  I had downloaded the trial installer onto a cd from a different computer because my internet was not yet hooked up on my computer.  When I tried to install 3ds Max 2011 from the cd, every component seemed to install just fine until I got to the very last step where it was installing 3ds Max itself, then it suddenly said something similar to "error 1721, problem with installer package, program required could not be run" and then started going backwards and would not install.  How do I fix this and install the 3ds max trial?

Please check the minimum requirement for running 3DS Max 2011
