3ds Max 2010 fails to start due to biped dlc error

3ds Max 2010 (32bit) fails to start up while loading when it starts to load biped dlc.  Why is this happening and what can be done to set it right?

Here is the technical solution http://usa.autodesk.com/getdoc/id=TS1071846

Please test resetting the BIPED.INI configuration file.

1. Close 3ds Max Design 2010 / 2011.

2. Browse to the following local user application preferences directory-

Windows VISTA / Windows 7

C:\Users\YOUR_USER_NAME\AppData\Local\Autodesk\3dsMaxDesign\2010 - 32bit\enu\plugcfg

Windows XP

C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR_USER_NAME\local settings\Autodesk\3dsMaxDesign\2010 - 32bit\enu\plugcfg

3. Rename the BIPED.INI configuration file in this direcrtory to OLD_BIPED.INI

4. Restart 3ds Max Design 2010, new user application preference file for Biped will be created on startup.

I hope that the above information is useful

Cheers

Hi Anil

Thank you very much for the steps that you suggested to set the biped dlc error right.  By renaming the Biped.Ini file, the problem was resolved and I am now able to use 3Ds Max 2010.  Thanks again.

Regards

Rahul

Hi,

I am having a very similar problem.

When I try to load 3ds max, it will begin opening plug-ins but get hung up on HSDS.dlm.

Can I use this same method to fix the problem?

Thanks

Hello Markus,
Try renaming the HSDS.dlm to hsdsdlm_old and see if that helps. You can also copy the hsds.dlm from another working machine and see if that works.

Cheers

I am getting this error for 3Ds Max 2016 and doing this does not solve the issue?

I have deleted everything I could see that had these file types and it didn't work, and they would also reappear once I open Max up again.

I can merge the scene into a new empty one though, this does work. but its not ideal with the number of files I have, would like a fix 😄

Delete the biped.dlc file, restart 3ds max , it will work, 100%

It doesn't work, in fact I cant seem to locate this file?

I am defiantly in the right file but all I have that is close to it is:

  • a folder called plugcfg_In (Which doesn't have any Biped named files)
  • ENU-plugcfg-Which has a file called BIPED but the file type is INI

These are the only things I can find close to what you are asking me to delete and I have deleted these to test but still didn't work?

Capture Biped.PNG

Dear,

Delete that biped. Ini file and try to run max, biped file will automatically generate and the max will work.
