2009 refused license error 1.5.-18

AutoCAD 2009, new redundant license server install (v11.4.100.0 build i86_n3 lmgr.lib), network installed clients receive "No valid license, error 1.5.-18.

Have read all the error 1.5.-18 posts & modified this 50 ways, & only get a semi-normal license service status by changing the host name to the IP address of the licensing servers. At least this shows the following:

Adskflex: UP v11.4
Feature usage info:

Users of 64300ACD_F: (Total of 25 licenses isssued; Total of 0 licenses in use)

Users of 57600ACD_2009_OF: (Total of 25 licenses issued; Total of 0 licenses in use)

Users of 54600ACD_2008_OF; (Total of 25 licenses issued; Total of 0 licenses in use)

Users of 51200ACD_2007_OF: (Total of 25 licenses issued; Total of 0 licenses in use)

Users of 48800ACD_2006_OF: (Total of 25 licenses issued; Total of 0 licenses in use)

But no client gets a vaild license.

We're completely stuck. I've requested 3 different license files, installed direct downloaded versions & had license files attached/copied from email from AutoDesk...none work.

Here's a helpful diagnostic error:

ERRORS: C:\Program Files\Autodesk Network License Manager\2009\License\ACD2009VEGEMITEmail.lic:line 23 Future license file format or misspelling in license file. The file was issued for a later version of FLEXnet Licensing than this program understands.

Line 23 is this line: INCREMENT PLIST adskflex 1.000 permanent 1 \

This service has been stopped & started many, many times, with varying results...none of them functional.

Not sure what to do next...maybe switch to another CAD application(?) after 8 years of fighting with FLEXnet licensing quirkiness.

Try removing the entire PLIST increment altogether and retest.

Have you made sure all four exe files on the license server have been
updated? Check with what you have on your 2009 DVD.

All executables confirm to be v11.4.100.0, although don't see any way to double-check the adskflex applet's sub-dot version. The server diagnostic does not show any version conflicts. Everything was installed anew from the 2009 disk onto a pristine Win 2003 R2 server with tcp ports 2080 & 27005 open in both directions.

What's the most recent release of the FLEXnet tool set?
I see Acresso has a 11.6 of everything, but obviously not AutoDesk's adskflex...so I don't think that will work.

Tried the suggestion below, & deleted the PLIST line (23) that was throwing the error. Didn't change anything that I can see...still errors out. Went back to the original.

I've also gone through and removed all tab stops in the txt document, because a knowledge base article indicates that they can be a problem. No change.

I'm concerned because occasionally I can get LMTOOLS to read the license file...but only every 8th or 9th try. Most attempts it cannot read the file properly (could this be a path problem?). Once it's recognized, it can be re-read. But now I cannot even get it to see any license as legit; -15,10 licensing error, lmgrd not started, etc.

Still stuck,

Do you have the new Package Increment? I notice that you are running combined files from older licenses. If you run the Package Increment under subscription for the new 2009 products, it could potentially be causing a conflict... I suppose.

Also, I am running 11.6 just fine even though the adskflex.exe is still the prior version. Might consider it...

I almost want to see your license file, but it contains private information that I do not want you to post here.

If you want you can send the license file per email to me and I will take a
look at it and keep it confidential.
If you can send me a complete debug log (zipped) as well it might help.

I'lll take you up on that offer. This is getting old & my vendor is incapable of dealing with technical issues.

If you send me an email contact I'll forward the .lic plus the dedug.zip.
Perhaps you can spot something obvious I'm not seeing.

Daniel,

Sorry for all the emails. Looks like you have a bunch of little issues, including not being able to open the proper TCP ports, as well as your secondy server not connecting. I went ahead and regenerated your license file and sent it to you just incase there were some errors in yours. Please make sure they are all running the same NLM 11.4.1 and running this license file.

10:19:28 (lmgrd) Failed to open the TCP port number in the license.
10:19:33 (lmgrd) Attempting connection to tertiary redundant server
10:19:43 (lmgrd) Attempting connection to secondary redundant server
10:19:48 (lmgrd) Failed to connect to secondary redundant server
10:19:48 (lmgrd) Connection attempt to secondary redundant server failed

Let me know how it goes.

This was a major nut to crack. Perhaps the instructions below will save a few folks major headaches like the ones we experienced:

First off, we encountered significant problems getting Win2003 R2 server to talk on ports 2080 & 27005. The fix for this (on all three servers) was to resort to this cli netshell command:

netsh winsock reset

& reboot the servers. Once this was initiated tcp ports in question showed up as listening in the list generated after running this cli command:
netstat -ano

It was not sufficient to merely open the above tcp ports in MS Firewall. Flexlm was not a happy camper until everything was copacetic on all three boxes, where upon both the license-requester & distribution ports were unencumbered. Hint: Telnet the port number & confirm that it's open & listening: open xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx 2080 . If you get "Cannot connect" there's still something wrong. If you get ... then you're good to go.

Once the three redundant svrs were happily offering licenses, of course the client installs done prior to our license regeneration continued to fail. Had to set an environmental variable to get this working:

Get properties on My Computer
Advanced Tab
Environmental Variables
Created a new variable called LM_LICENSE_FILE
and added primary; secondary; tertiary servers as the value:

2080@primary;2080@secondary;2080@tertiary

Those server names above can either be ip address or dns names from our experience.

We mixed IPs & a dns name (for the primary) & it worked.

So that was our solution.

Thanks x 1,000,000 to all who responded & especially to Travis Nave who worked on this & provided invaluable confirmation of the crucial problem layers. I remain in deep gratitude.

Jimmy, if you wouldn't mind I would like to take you up on this offer as well. I have a license file that works fine, but when i try to append the existing license file with the new one I was sent I cannot get Revit MEP 2009 to obtain a license.
