Hi,
So, I have recently been using Maya on a school computer, but now I am planning to get a new computer that can run Maya. What graphics card, computer type, etc. should I buy? I'm hoping not to spend over 1k since I am infact a bit of an amateur and don't have a large budget to work off of. Thanks y'all!
Its not exactly a light program. Depending where you are located (a dollar here isn't necessarily a dollar where you are), you'll probably be looking at ~ $1500 for a computer that will do more than the bare minimum simple exercises. You'll want something with either four or six cores with a decent clock speed (i5 is frequently recommended as best cost/performance blend). Plenty of RAM, 12 - 16 GB is normal. You can probably get by with 8 GB but it won't take much to overrun that and RAM is cheap these days. Don't skimp on hard drive size - its tempting to get a small/cheap solid state drive but almost all application data needs to be on it, not just the operating sytem. Best cost/performance blend is usually a commonly available mid-size SSD with a large SATA III/large buffer conventional hard drive for data storage.
Here you go this is what I would get.

Thanks for the list of items, but what computer should I use with the stuff? Also, are there any good and recommendable computers that has one or more of the items on the list pre-installed?
