Trial to Network License conversion?

Howdy,

I have a question that I cannot seem to find an answer for and am hoping someone here can tell me if this can be done.

In my environment we have a adskflex server providing our network floating licenses for Maya, Max, MotionBuilder, etc. We have several installations of Maya 2013 that were installed as trial versions while we decided if we wanted it. Now that we have the licensing uploaded to the adskflex server, I need to convert the trial installations to our license server.

I know I can uninstall/re-install and enter our keys/hostname but I'd rather convert and save myself some time if possible.

Is there a documented process for converting from the trial version to a floating license?

Thanks,
Jeremy

In your Programs/Autodesk/Maya....../bin folder there's a license.env file open that up in a txt editor and change the Method:

MAYA_LICENSE_METHOD=network

should work fine as that's what tells Maya how to go find the license file

Thank you Mark-J! That worked beautifully.

Ok, partial hijack of my own thread but along the same lines...

What about 3dsMax, MotionBuilder, and Mudbox as they do not have a license.env file at a similar path?

Thanks,

No reply to Jeremy's last question?  I need to do exactly this process, but with 3DS Max 2013.  Any directions?

Installing as a trial is automatically stand-alone, which means it needs to be uninstalled and re-installed.  You might have been able to install it as a network licensed version with either dummy server ID or the genuine server without any available licenses and then update the license file and/or license server ID on the client.  But that requires a little foresight when installing the trial.
