Hi, I have downloaded the student version of maya 2015 and can not get the mental ray plug in to instal with it. I have it ticked in the install window with the pack to go with it. However it keeps on failing the install. I have uninstalled and reinstalled and it still won't work. Both with security on and off. It still doesn't want to load. Any help would be great.
You have to download the Mental Ray service pack 5 (SP5) from the downloads center and run it. Then restart Maya.
Then go to Windows - Settings and Preferences and Plugin Manager and scroll to the bottom and check off Load and Auto Load for Mayatomr.mll. That should fix it.
