MR Satellite won't connect to host

I've spend many hours trying to get MR Satellite to render in Maya 2012 SAP on Win7 x64.
I have firewall turned off on both master and slave. I have verified that the computers are connected (in fact, Backburner works between them). I have verified that Satellite is running on the slave.

In maya.rayhosts I have:
192.168.2.22:7412 192.168.2.18:7412

Apparently, MR Satellite cannot connect to the host.
The error message is:

mental ray: got 8 satellite CPUs.
MEM 0.0 info : heap size limit set to 19372 MB
MSG 0.0 info : adding new host 1 (192.168.2.22:7412)
MSG 0.0 warn 012229: could not connect to host:port 192.168.2.22:7412 - No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it. (IPv4)
MSG 0.0 error 011228: mi_msg_connect: failed to create active socket
MSG 0.0 error 011706: cannot add host 192.168.2.22:7412

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

I have exactly the same problem.

Network rendering seems practically impossible. Nothing I do seems to want to let it work.

The documentation is horrendous and the way it has been implemented is just horrible.
