Maya 2015 and RHEL7.

Our renderfarm is Linux-based (RHEL6.5) and has been running Maya 2014.

It's upgrade time... but Maya 2015 is not certified for use with RHEL7. Indeed, it installs just fine, but complains about library version incompatibilities with "libtiff" and "libPNG" when it attempts to run.

When will RHEL7 and Maya 2015 play well together?

Thank you.

Stephen

Maya 2015 should run on RHEL. for libtiff.so.3 ?? There is a compatibility rpm package that should be installed

Maya is built on RHEL 6 so it does have some older package requirements

Haven't seen the png issue. What versions is it complaining about

I moved that host back to RHEL6 and installed Maya 2015 - it runs just fine.

As I recall, however, Maya 2015 was looking for libpng12 and was only
finding libpng15.

Where might I find the compatibility package of which you speak?

Thanks for the reply!

Best,

Install the Compatibility Libraries package collection. I did that during the install of CentOS 7 and haven't had any issues besides the 4 missing fonts. Installing the Compatibility Libraries package collection can be found by using the applications menu -> System Tools -> Software then clicking Package Collections and Compatibility Libraries is near the top.

sudo yum install xorg-x11-fonts-ISO8859-1-100dpi xorg-x11-fonts-ISO8859-1-75dpi xorg-x11-fonts-100dpi xorg-x11-fonts-75dpi

for PNG   if the package  libpng12 is not installed     install as root:   yum install libpng12

for tiff     if the package  compat-libtiff3 is not installed    install as root:   yum install compat-libtiff3
