Maya 2014 quicktimeShim.exe error after Maya 2015 install

I'm having an issue where on some workstations that I install Maya 2015 on, the current install of Maya 2014 is affected and has an error come up saying:

18c0: quicktimeShim.exe - System Error

The program can't start beacuse MSVCR71.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.

Maya 2014 will still start after this error but it comes up on every startup. quicktimeShim is used on the workstations that is getting the software. So far the only fix for this error is to re-install Maya 2014.

Any idea's why this is popping up? And on some workstations but not others?

All running Windows 7 sp1

I have uninstalled a couple extra programs that were installed adjacently to Maya (2015) and now I'm getting the same error. It doesn't seem to affect anything in my case, though.

Anyone knows which of the programs is necessary to avoid this error or, better yet, how to just correct it not installing anything else?
