Maya 2014 on laptop?

Hi,

I am a computer animations and visual effects student and I need to buy a laptop which I will use mainly for Maya 2014, 3dsmax, photoshop, etc..
So far my choice is Lenovo Ideapad y510p:

http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/ideapad/y-series/y510p/?sb=:000001C9:0000F3AF:#

CPU: Intel Core i7-4700MQ (2.40 - 3.40 GHz, 6 MB cache)

RAM: 8GB DDR3 1600 Mhz

GPU: 2 x NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M (SLI)

Storage: 1 TB SATA 5400 rpm + 8 GB SSHD

So my question is - will the hardware be sufficient for those programs to run smoothly, and if not - please recommend if there is something better in this price range (1300-1400$).

Should work good - the SLI video card option will not be utilized by Maya however... Save your money and just do single.

The comp you're looking at should work.

I went with an Asus G75VW, which is a less glitchy lappy, for about the same price. When looking into lappys, this one was recommended over the competition (In case you're looking for something else.)

Intel Core i7-3610qm 2.30 GHz, 12 GB RAM 17.3 in screen (if that matters.) 1TB hard drive.
