Maya 2014 crashes after fatal save error

Have recently downloaded Maya 2014 - student version.  It worked fine when I initially downloaded it.

I am now getting a fatal error message when I open Maya that reads:

Fatal Error: Attempting to save in:

C:/Users/Miles/AppData/Local/Temp/Miles.20130911.1751.ma

After I push OK, Maya then crashes.

Any suggestions?

The actual order is: 1) maya crashes. 2) as part of the crash reporting, Maya attempts to save your current work, 3) application exits

Back to the crash. Have you changed anything on your system ? Installed new Nvidia drivers ? There is a known compatibility error with recent Nvidia drivers and usually Optimus enabled machines

Force Nvidia graphics on is one option, reverting drivers is another

There are a number of threads on the topic

Was there a CER crash dialog posted ?

It must have to do with my NVIDIA graphics card. I just opened Maya 2014
fine by using my integrated graphics instead of the NVIDIA card. I have
actually had a lot of issues with my NVIDIA card and Autodesk programs,
including Revit 2013/2014 and AutoCad 2012 and AutoCad Architecture 2014.

Recently a new driver from NVIDIA has seemed to fix the crash issues I was
having with Revit and AutoCad, and they have been working okay with the new
driver for over a month.

The NVIDIA driver I believe is 320.4

Any suggestions?

Thank you,

Miles

the Nvidia conflict I was referring to was with a Autodesk common component.affecting a number of Autodesk applications.  Both Nvidia and Autodesk were looking into what changed.  I don't know if the latest Nvidia driver changed/fixed anything there.

for Maya you could try setting Enironment variable  MAYA_DISABLE_CIP=1  before running Maya
