Maya 2012 installing

I have contacted the customer service several times and they've sent here. I have Maya 2012, it has crashed several times, and I've been reactivating my license, and I can no longer reactivate it. The customer service suggested I try to reinstall it, which does work except my OS software is too new, for it to install. Does anyone happen to know a way around this?

Can you attempt to reinstall - but when presented with what software options to install - uncheck DirectConnect and the Direct Connect Documentation?

That did work, but it's still coming up and saying my license is expired. Do I need to register online for it to work?
