Foot pedals?

I'm just wondering if anyone has any recommendation for foot pedals for use with Maya.  I have a student who has very limited use of his right hand; using keystroke combinations is very difficult for him and I'm looking for a solution to make things easier (or possible) for him. 

Has anyone had any experience remapping MIDI foot pedals to keys like Alt, Ctrl, Spacebar, etc, to use as mouse button modifiers?  

I've seen the ones that are used for games and for dictation; I'm looking for something with relatively easy software setup that can be expandable if necessary.

i think there is a good chance that they work with maya and if they do there is a chance that you get others to work!

I'd actually seen these on the web - I'm considering getting one of them but was interested in anyone who has actually used them who could give me some feedback.  Also considering a standard MIDI keyboard with more pedals on the ground.  Not sure if I want to dive in or start small ...

He can try game mouse with multi-key.

Define one key as Alt or define click this function key as alt press and click again as alt releases.
