Revit georeferred into Infraworks 2014 R2, messed up model

I'm trying to import a few Revit-models into my Infraworks-project. The work-flow has been as following:

- Created an independent Revit-project which just contains a georefered toposurface.

- Created Revit-models in local origin.

- Linked them into the Toposurface-model and placed them where they should be, and published the coordinates to the respective Revit-models.

- Created an Infraworks-project with the same terrain model and importing the Revit models with correct coordinate system.

The problem occurs when the Revit-models are displayed in Infraworks. Lines aren't parallel or straigth. It has nothing to do with the placing in the model, the problem also shows on the "3D Model"-tab when configuring the import.

Both the Survey-point and Base-point in Revit is placed in close proximity in each model.

Are there any way to get a correctly placed Revit-model into Infraworks without messing it up? FBX aren't working so well (wrong scale, won't be correctly placed, materials, etc.).

Anyone got any ideas? Hard to find any good information on this.

Hi Arild,

I have had success with exporting an IFC file from Revit for import to InfraWorks when the RVT and FBX files do not give me the desired results. I'm not sure if the local coordinates come over with the IFC, so you may have to manually place the model by using the 'Interactice Placement' button when configuring the model.

I can't find any option allowing me to import IFC in 2014 R2, thought that was first possible in R4 and 2015?

The model is correctly displayed if I move the survey-point and base-point in Revit back to 0,0, but that kind of disrupts the entire advantage of working directly with the rvt-file (making a copy of the rvt-file, moving base- and survey-point, and inveractivly placing it in Infraworks for every update).

Annyoing to have to chose whether or not I want the model to be displayed correctly, or if it should be correctly placed.

Can someone confirm if the RVT-import-function is improved in Infraworks 2015?

I think it may be the size of the coordinates.  Does it also flicker in the preview before importing?

you might try this as a workaround: http://knowledge.autodesk.com/article/Geometry-of-certain-items-looks-incorrect-when-importing-a-Rev...

Thanks, this workaround is perfect! Although a more sizable workflow, at least I'm able to place a good-looking Revit-file at it's right location.

Really looking forward to be able to right-click the RVT Data Source and click "Refresh", and watch the lates entries in the Revit-file pop up.

Still having to do this in 2019. Thanks @NateMoore for the link!
