Is anyone seeing decent publish speeds for AIM 360?

I tried on a small model and it took about 20 minutes.

I have tried on what I consider a larger model and it crashed, twice.

Then I tried publishing that locally and it crashed also.

I have not been able to upload any model I wanted to show people, the one that worked had way resampled images.

I kind of have a feel for what the settings mean in the export dialog, but they are not solving the problem.

Autodesk, do you feel a 1 hour publish time is acceptable?

This taste of putting stuff on the internet, I mean cloud, has not been encouraging so far.

I like how the DG web interface cut off the ? at the end of the title.

Space age stuff we have here.

seriously, not a single reply?

One might argue this is Autodesk's most unique program in the Civil Engineering industry, and its hottest topic is clouds, and they introduce a cloud driven viewer that requires a complete reinstall of AIM, and we hear nothing?

cloud shmoug, this if fog.

i had one take 20 mintues, then some 5-10 minutes, i guess it depends on the size of the file

Hi James,

Speed and efficient uploads/downloads are something we are working hard on.  We completely agree with you that 1-hour to upload a model or scenario of moderate size is a lot.  While there are many elements of the model to look at here, one that we keep coming back to is the size of the imagery you're using in your model.  If possible it would be good to know how you've setup your model and what imagery you're using (resolution, area size, and size on disk).  Can you share this information?

Thanks,

Justin

I will, but I would also like to hear feedback on my question - what are others seeing for upload times?

For my largest model which is one surface and one image:

My image is a 57 mb jpg which is about 16,500x16,500 pixels.

My surface has 2.9 million triangles.

I think my medium sized models have about 1/4 those numbers.

Can anyone post times they are seeing for some pixel/triangle combinations?

Keep in mind, half the point of AIM is its ability to handle large surfaces and high res images.

Autodesk needs to learnm that accurate marketing is the key, otherwise they taint the terms and render them meaningless.

BIM and Cloud are two that are seeing serious erosion.

have not heard on this in a while.

The tool is essentially useless the way it is, hope that does not sit well with Autodesk....
