Hi,

Can you provide a little more information?

You can't find where to sign-in? When does this happen?

Did you create an Autodesk account here when you downloaded the student version?

http://www.autodesk.com/education/free-software/infraworks#

Thanks,

Elliott

I do have an existing account that I used at an earlier time to download Civil 3D . I was looking for a software to help to me present my designs for school projects created in C3D. I downloaded the Infraworks 2015 student version ,but I can't find local model or the model builder as it is shown in the tutorial videos. So,I'm not even sure where to start. I understand that there is a difference between the Infraworks and the Infraworks 360. Also, I have noticed that all how to videos are done using the 360 version. So, my question is Infraworks 360 available for student download or does the regular Infraworks have the same capabilities.

Thanks for the response.

1) Student version of InfraWorsks 360?

I was unable to find InfraWorks 360 on the Education Community Free Software page, just like you report. I have reached out to colleagues about your question on whether there is a Student download of InfraWorks 360 available. Currently, I am not sure if it is a part of our offering to students and educators, but I will respond as soon as I find out more.

2) Does the regular Infraworks have the same capabilities?

  • InfraWorks is our desktop application that manages larger-scale infrastructure models created from existing data sources and generates proposals and early design concepts in the context of the built environment.
  • InfraWorks 360 is the cloud-based version where Autodesk infinite computing servers can be applied to the problem. InfraWorks 360 offers some functions that aren't avaible for users of just InfraWorks, such as the Model Builder.
  • You can compare InfraWorks v. InfraWorks 360 using this link: http://www.autodesk.com/products/infraworks-360/compare-products

3) Local model

"I can't find local model ... as it is shown in the tutorial videos."

I think you are refering to the sample San Francisco model?

The sample San Francisco model for InfraWorks is only available to download and work with through the Collaborate tools, which are exclusive to InfraWorks 360. With 360, you can access cloud services, including using design groups to download, share, publish and sync models between group members. This includes the Samples@InfraWorks 360 design group, which contains the San Francisco model.

We do also offer a 30-day free trials of both if you'd like to try those out while you wait on a response from me:

Thanks,

Ok, I just heard back about this issue:

Technically, InfraWorks 360 is available to students. Unfortunately, it is not currently available via the Education Community Free Software download page I mentioned previously.  We are currently working through some technical details about how to provide the student version as a simple download.

In the meantime, you can download the trial version of InfraWorks 360, then request that your trial license be upgraded to the free student license.
If you have already downloaded the trial version and it is about to expire or has already expired, we can also upgrade your trial to the free student license.

I will report back tomorrow with the correct email address you can use to send a request to have your trial InfraWorks 360 license upgraded to a student license.

Thanks for your patience!

Best,

Elliott

Elliot,
I have been trying to use the trial version of the Infraworks 360 without any success .
I downloaded the trial version with no problem, however when tried to create a model I got stuck. Upon trying to download the requested model about half-way through the process the software unexpectedly shut down . When attempted to repeat downloading several times the same thing happened. After noticing that an upgrade is in the "works" I waited couple of days, and now after receiving the requested model I am unable to download it because my version is not up to date ; however ,I can't update because I don't have an account at the subscription center. I am pretty anxious to see the capabilities of this software, because I am hoping that having the knowledge to use it would give me an advantage when I graduate college and look for work in four months . Can you please let me know having only the trial/student version can I have an account in the subscription center and if yes , how do I set it up.
Thank you,
Robert

Hi Robert,

You should be able to create an Autodesk 360 account in order to use the InfraWorks 360 trial.

You can create an Autodesk 360 account for free using this link: https://accounts.autodesk.com/register

Please let me know if you encounter any issues with that. I will report back with more information about the student version as soon as I have more information for you.

Thanks, and Happy New Years!

Elliott

Hi Elliott

Thanks for the reply.

But I could not download the trial version.

When I got to this website: http://www.autodesk.com/products/infraworks-360/free-trial#

and choose download trial   Autodesk_InfraWorks360_2015_R3_Win_64bit_WI_en-US_Setup.exe will be downloaded,  after that nothing happened.

When I clicked the exe file, an error message came out ( see attached image) .

Any ideas how to solve this problem?

Yang

Hi Yang,

There is some installation advice on the bottom of that page (http://www.autodesk.com/products/infraworks-360/free-trial#).

I would recommend trying again, but make sure that all these steps outlined below are met first. If you continue to have a problem installing the trial that way, you could try the alternate download and install option, via the Download Manager.

Please let me know if those options do not work, and I will find a different solution for you.

Thanks,

Elliott

Hi Yang,

Please, completely disable your anti-virus and firewall programs and try downloading again.

Please accept as solution if my post fully resolves your issue, or reply with additional details if the problem persists.

That is strange indeed!

Are you downloading on your personal computer or a school computer? Any chance this computer may be behind network security?

Also, please follow these instructions to ensure your firewall is completely disabled.

I am using my personal computer at home, I have followed the instructions you provided for disabling the firewall.

The only Anti-Virus software I used is Microsoft Security Essentials, and I have disabled it already.   But the problem is still there.

Any other options such as other infraworks 2015 360 downlaod link?

Regards

Yang
