Infaworks models

New with Infaworks and I'm trying to find where to get 3D symbols to expand the library.  I need a bunch of new symbols and although I have found some in sketchup, when I export them to use in infaworks they are not 3D at all but in fact 2D images.  Looking at the existing file types in infaworks those use a .sff file extension but I haven't found anything like those at all.

Trees are specifically what I'm after but I'm sure there will be plenty others.

Thanks.

Have you considered consuming 3D objects from products like Civil 3D or 3DS Max for use in Infraworks... http://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/infraworks-360/learn-explore/caas/CloudHelp/cloudhelp/2015/ENU...

FBX and 3DS files will really help you here!

Hi there,

Have you tried exporting the .SKP files as Collada (.dae), then bringing them into InfraWorks? I am attaching some screenshots to help out.

Also, I assume that you are trying to add 3d models of trees 3D Model --> Vegetation Style Catalog?

To do so:

  1. Once you have exported your .SKP files to .DAE, open your InfraWorks model, and open the Style Palette.
  2. Navigate to the appropriate Style Catalog using the tab on the left, then import your 3d model into that style catalog by clicking on the + sign in the Style Editing Section.
  3. Click the Browse button next to the Model URI field, then select the .DAE file. Press Open.
  4. Now you can define the new 3D model. For help with this, see this help topic:
  5. Press OK when you are done. Your 3D model is now stored in the Vegetation Style Catalog and can be sketched in your models at any time.

Hope this helps!

Best,

Elliott
