I'm having issues aligning different file types created in civil 3d when I import them into Infraworks 2015. I have 4 files types I'm using, .fbx (for objects), .sdf (for 3-d polylines), .xml (surface), and .rcp ( point cloud). In civil 3d everything lines up with each other and looks great. When importing these file types into infraworks my .sdf file matches the .xml, the .fbx files match within themselves but not .sdf, and the .rcp match neither. Everything is close, but not spot on, it varies from +/- 2 feet to spot on for both the vertical and horizontal. I thought this could be fixed with a rotation or a constant move but it varies in such a way there is no constant fix that would solve this problem. I'm not sure what's causing the objects to misalign, the project is 7 miles long, so I was thinking maybe its pulling in differing origin points or something.
All file types were imported using the same coordinate system within infraworks and I've even tried both setting my coordinate system in civil 3d to match that of infraworks (CAIIIF state plane) and not setting the civil 3D coordinate system and I get the same results. If anyone has had any luck with importing multiple files types and can help me with this issue that would be great.
Also, is there a way to change the color of a point cloud if not RGB values are present.
Thanks,
Ross Doyle
