Import fbx from acad with color (material) from layer color

A common thing is I have items in acad bylayer for color.

I pull into IW and colors are gone, as fbxexport only does material.

Is there an easy workflow to assigning materials in acad based on layer color?

Is there a way in IW to assign color based on some property of the solids in the fbx export?

I do not know if fbx's contain layer info like you could do with shapefile.
