Hi,
I'm wondering what the best method for importing the lidar data into AIW's is? I thought it would be a simple think to import lidar into AIWs but that does seem to be the case. I created a DEM file from my LAS and attempted at importing that but when I do my project that currently contains buildings and raster images disappears and nothing renders. As soon as I delete the terain layer it all comes back.
So, I'm wondering what others are doing to get this into the fold?
Thanks.

Hi there,
If your point cloud data is stored in LAS format, you must convert it to RCS format. You can use Autodesk ReCap to do this. An RCS file is a single point cloud file that can incorporate multiple scan (LAS) files. There may be an accompanying RCP file (a project file that points to the individual scan files and contains information about them).
You can find some more information on this here: http://help.autodesk.com/view/INFMDR/2015/ENU/?guid=GUID-FC419CFC-8134-4A4C-888F-E591E88D2FA9
Hope this helps!

After looked for other ways of approaching this I thought I would try the ReCap approach as you suggested. Whenever I go to the trial download page it ends up redirecting to a 404 page. Is this software no longer available?
I was able to reproduce the 404 you found. However, I was able to use the alternate download option, which requires downloading the Autodesk Download Manager, to successfully install the trial. See if you can use the alternate download option on the Free Trial page.
1) go to http://www.autodesk.com/products/recap/free-trial#
2) Click on "See Below" (see attached image).
3) Click "Download Trial using Download Manager"
4) Run the Installer.
Once your Download Manager installation is complete, ReCap trial should begin to download.
Hope this helps!

Elliott
Thanks for the reply.
I tried your suggestion but it to does the same thing. I have the Download manager installed but ReCap does not launch after the install. It just redirects to that 404 page or I need to choose an application to install but since I cannot download the exe file i have nothing to run in the download manager.
Ok one last thought --
Have you turned off virus checking software and all other active applications before attempting to download?
Have you verified your system requirements?
And thank you for this feedback, I have notified the ReCap team about this issue.
Best,
Elliott
I have it working just now.
In the download manager it shows nothing and doesn't automatically start the download and install. However, I did run the download manager again and just clicked ok and the install began. There was no indication that there was anything downloaded but it began to do the download and install.
Thanks!
