Email never shows up for model download

I've tried several times to create a model in Model Builder, but I never get an email notification that the model's ready for download. The area I'm trying to cover is quite small - .22km - so it doesn't seem like it should take all that long for the model to be created. What do I need to do?

There are several things that may potentially affect the e-mail notification. But before we go there, do you see those models available in the appropriate group?

Now, about e-mail - some corporate filters or eve user-defined filters may block those messages. We definitely do not have any difference in the code beteween different users. Also, check if there is any misprint in your e-mail associated with the account that you are using to log on in InfraWorks.

If you don't see your built models in the group please create a new model and send us the tracking ID of the model. You can find it if you use "Show Detailed Info" in the RequestReceived dialog (the one you will see right after you pressed "Create Model" button)

I am having a similar problem. When using Model Builder if I select a group that I am a publisher on I never receive an email, however if I send it to a group where I am the admin, I do receive the email notification. Either way, the model does show up for me, but I need the notifications to work for the rest of my team. If the email coding is the same, then I can't see how there could be a filter that is sorting the emails differently on my end. Any thoughts?

I am checking with the dev team about this, to see if by design publishers aren't sent the email, or if this is a possible issue on our side. I will get back to you shortly.

Hi Rebecca,

Can you provde me the tracking ID from any models that you aren't receiving email confirmations for? With those tracking IDs, we can look at those specific model creation processes and see if we can identify a cause/solution to what you are experiencing.

You can find the tracking ID when you create a model in Model Builder, and then click "More Details" in the dialog that pops-up in Model Builder.

Hi Elliot, thanks for looking into this. Here's the tracking ID of a model that has shown up for me in my models, but I never received an email for.

Hi Rebecca,

I provided this tracking ID to the model builder team and we were able to confirm that emails are sent to publishers, not just admins. Additionally, this specific tracking ID shows that according to the Model Builder logs, we were able to send the email successfully. Success in this case means that we handed the email off to the Autodesk email relay for delivery, and it accepted the message. We don’t have a lot of visibility into the inner workings of the email gateway, and it’s possible (but somewhat unlikely) that it failed to send the email. I would check your email settings to verify you aren't being blocked by corporate or personal email filters, and also check your spam folder. Let me know if adjusting your email settings makes a difference!

Best,
Elliott

We've been testing with removing different email filters and at this point have allowed anything coming from @autodesk.com and still publishers are not receiving emails for models created by the admin. Not sure what else to try.

Hi Rebecca,

Since this problem is not for every user we need to understand what is the particularity (of your install or account) that make it different from most of other users.

Let's do a simple experiment - register a different e-mail with completely different mail provider and change (or create new) account that InfraWorks will use with this new mail. See if you start to receive mails. If not then there is "something different from others" is your instance of IW or with  - most possibly locale or something else. If you receive e-mail then then "something different from others" is your e-mail account or the way how the provider filters mails for you.

Thanks,

Valentin Ofshteyn

Hi Valentin,

We only have two accounts that can use the Model Builder feature in IW 360, so I can't randomly add/remove people from that, however I added two personal email accounts (completely separate providers) to my work groups to see if one of them would recieve the notifications. Neither did. They got the emails to join the group, but nothing after that when models were created.

Took a look at the accounts in the Accounts Manager and nothing appears to be blocking either account there that I can see.

Thanks,

Rebecca
