cover areas

Is there a way to control how editing cover areas in infrastructure impact terrain.

Areas far outside the cover is changed even if you use dobbel covers.

Something must control new slopes etc.

Can you elaborate a little more on what you are trying to accomplish?  And what are the results you are seeing?

I want to have more control over the terrain so that i can shape it the
way i want in infrastructure.

1 picture is terrain as is whit 2 cover on top of each other

2 picture, I have tried to drag the nearest corner in the middle down

That impacts the terrain in 5 meters radius and the other covers points
are also moved ( 3 picture )

I can pull the outer cover up to compensate, but that gives me another 5 m
radius to deal with.

( the top cover will stay where it is )

If the outer cover could stay the same or I can control by slope ore
radius etc how the original terrain is altered.

It must be programmed how the cover affects the terrain when edited, and I
want to control that.

If you take a look at a road you see that the edges is cut almost straight
down or up at terrainlevel.

It would be nice to control that as well.

Another issue is if you use a barrier as a road, place a cover near by to
control the terrain, it takes no affect of the barrier. It acts as its not
there.

I see what you're saying now.  Unfortunately there is not much control on how these features work yet.  I haven't tested this option in 2014 yet.  I can today and let you know.  I do know that coverages will drape and adjusting them adjusts the terrain.  I see your frustration.

I asked a similar question recently, and it does not appear that this is possible in 2013.  I had hopes for 2014, but haven't read or seen anything that would indicate that this has changed.  I'm excited about the road tools included with the Ultimate suite, but would be much more interested in seeing grading tools (maybe similar to the ones from the Interactive Terrain Modeler project from labs last year) included in the next release (hopefully 2014 v2).

Infraworks 2014 :

- select cover

- view properties

  - under 'coverage'

    - 'Smooth Radius'

Default in program if you leave it.

Can be given a very small value to minimize effect on adjacent area's.

Thank you!

Same in 2013...
