So in the real world, inlets are not installed level, they are installed to match the slope of the road. Did you know that you can change the slope of an inlet grate to match your road? Here's how:
- Determine the slope of the road. You can do this by clicking on a PVI gizmo and looking at the tooltip, or by looking at the road in profile view.
- Select the inlet, right-click, and select Properties to open the Properties panel
- Change the Top Longitudinal Slope value to match the slope of your road. The units are ft/ft (or m/m, light year/light year) so if your road slopes at 3% you'll enter 0.03 for this value.
Notes:
- If the inlet tilts in the opposite direction, try making the value negative.
- If the inlet tilts in a direction perpendicular to the way you want it, rotate the inlet by 90 degrees. The Top Longitudinal Slope value only affects the inlet along one axis.
- Changing this value only tilts the grate, not the whole structure. Try entering a value like 2 and you'll see what I mean.
