Zoom Goto with Windows Vista

It seems with windows vista using ie7, we have lost the picklist functionality of the zoom goto feature in mapguide 6.5.
(Enter in part of a values, and it allows you to pick from a list of valid values).

I have tried it on a windows xp install, with ie7, and it works, so it's not an ie7 issue.

Have anyone else come across this?

oh yeah.

apparently a lot of people have run into this Zoom Goto problem. some websites are so aware of this problem that they notify visitors of their websites of the problem upon entry and provide them the procedures to uninstall the latest viewer file versions from their systems and reinstall older ones directly from *their own* website rather than having their visitors download the latest versions from the Autodesk website and perpetuate the problem.

the problem is not isolated to Vista either... it is very reproducible on XP as well.

conclusion drawn from a lot of testing (aka lost weekend) with provable reproducible problem/resolution: the latest MapGuide viewer ActiveX control (downloadable from Autodesk website) has all sorts of compatibility issues and bugs associated with it (including Zoom Goto and Reporting) depending on what versions of MapGuide you've previously installed, what latest Service Packs you've installed, what IE version you've installed, etc.

in many cases the only fix is to delete the latest CAB and/or DLL (mgaxctrl.dll) files (including the ones currently available at the Autodesk MapGuide website download area), and to reinstall older versions of these files (we finally resolved the issue on our systems by deleting latest ActiveX DLL and CAB files and reinstalling a DLL/CAB version 6.5.5.7 from the original 6.0 CDs). royal pita.
