WebServer Extensions Options

I'm going to have to get MGE2007 installed soon and I'm really floundering a
bit right now. Are most of you out there running on Apache or IIS? What
are the pros and cons of each, if any? Also, what are you using for a
scripting language, PHP, .NET? Again, what are the benefits and drawbacks
of each?

If your organization uses Windows servers, then setting up MapGuide with IIS
is the easiest and does not require as much "under the hood" configuration
as Apache does. Also, normally your organizational IT folks will mandate
what programming language(s) should be used. If you are using IIS, .NET is
a good choice since the two go hand in hand. If you are using Apache, then
you cannot use .NET and your choices are limited to PHP and Java. Of the 3
languages, PHP is probably the easiest to learn and use as well as
implement. Since MapGuide Admin is dependent on PHP, it will already be
installed and configured for you and you should be able to move forward a
with minimum of issues.
