Upgrade from MapGuide Server 6.0 to 6.3

I am running MapGuide Server 6.0 on a Windows 2000 box using IIS. This works great.

I have installed 6.3 on the same box. The plan was to install 6.3 on the same box, make sure it was working, then migrate all applications to 6.3.

I installed 6.3 twice (installed, uninstalled and repeated the install). The server indicates 6.3 is running, however nothing works. 6.0 continues to run ok (except when I'm rebooting the server.)

During the first installation I was asked if I wanted to migrate Data Sources from a previous release. I said yes. On second install I answered no, but when the Confirm Installation information was displayed it still said yes. The MapAgent in the script directory has not changed. 6.3 does not recognize authors. The default for the Map Server URL on new layers is defaulting back to Version 5.

What adjustment do I need to make so both Servers will be recognized? Do I have to uninstall 6.0 to get 6.3 to run correctly?

No, you don't need to uninstall MapGuide 6.0 to
have 6.3 running, there must be something wrong in your
configuration.

There are a few points I haven't understood
clearly, though:

What do you mean by
size=3>"The MapAgent in the script directory has not changed"?
face=Verdana size=2>Did you install both versions into the same
directory?
If you want to run both
versions in parallel you need to install them into different directories
and setup a new virtual directory for the
6.3 mapagent.

Could you also describe more in detail
face="Times New Roman" size=3>"6.3 does not recognize authors"?
face=Verdana size=2>Can't you open MapGuide Author, is there an error message,
when does it show up, etc.

What is the answer if you do the
....mapagent?item=test check?

To be able to come up with some suggestions
what the issue could be, please provide detailed information on how your
configuration looks like, what error messages are showing up and when
exactly this is happening.

Thanks,
Marion Pietsch
