Running MG OS on Windows XP Pro

Hello,
Using Mapguide Open Source I am using the following configuration:

Windows XP Pro with Apache
Everything runs on this box

I have read in the documentation that only Windows 2000 & 2003 Servers are supported. However with the limited use Ive had so far, everything seems to be running fine using XP Pro as an OS. Is there any big gotchas with this setup, keeping in mind this is for development only. Or is anyone using any lightweight free virtual servers to get past this limitation.

This is mainly because of the connection limits in Windows XP. It's
just not a server operating system, and IIS is crippled on it (Andy
added a way of getting around that well enough for development here:

but given that you're running Apache you should be OK... at least for
development.

For a production site, you'll want to be running it either on Linux or
on Win 2k3. Apparently performance is marginally better on Linux.

the OSGeo MapGuide Users mailing list.

I think I will start posting my questions on the OSGeo mailing list, especially since it its taking autodesk so long to split the Mapguide forums here.
